AC/DC

Telenor Arena is a new multi-use indoor stadium being constructed at Fornebu in the municipality of Bærum, Norway, just outside Oslo. It will be used for football matches and will be the new home ground of the football club Stabæk, but also for conserts and other events. The stadium is scheduled to open ahead of the 2009 season in Norwegian football.

The Australian hard rock band AC/DC performed at the arena on 18 February. This concert was the first of the European Leg of their Black Ice World Tour.

The night before...

Tomorrow night, the Scottish singer Fish will be having a concert in Oslo at the Rockefeller music hall. I can't wait! I've been a fan of this artist since he was the lead singer of Marillion and have followed him during his solo career which so far has lasted for nearly 20 years so far.

His latest album 13th Star is fabulous, probably the best solo album he's made.

Before the concert there will be a party at a pub called Andy's in Oslo. The bagpipe band I used to play in will be there too. We'll all be parading to the music hall, and if we're lucky; Fish will join us! He did two years ago when the photo above was taken of myself and my hero.

I didn't take any of these photos myself, but I hope the photographer(s) will forgive me for posting them.

Almost all the tickets are sold for the concert tomorrow so this will be a great party!

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones visited Oslo this week, and I was there!! I had never seen them live before, and my expectations were high. And they delivered! They gave us a great show and concert! :o)

"By the time the Rolling Stones began calling themselves the World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the late '60s, they had already staked out an impressive claim on the title. As the self-consciously dangerous alternative to the bouncy Merseybeat of the Beatles in the British Invasion, the Stones had pioneered the gritty, hard-driving blues-based rock & roll that came to define hard rock…..read more"

Ila Auto: Bluegrass in Oslo

We're getting closer to the election which is on September 10, and last night one of the political parties of Norway arranged a street party with several bands playing. I went there to finally get to see this band; Ila Auto. They're a great bluegrass band who have won a Norwegian Grammy Award. If you follow the link you'll get to hear a few of their tunes. Sunday Girl is one of my favourites.

I'm really so impressed by this band, I hope they'll continue to succeed at what they're doing so well.
