When we celebrate May 17th, Norwegians like to eat well. This is a typical lunch table with smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, vegetables and ham. What you also can see here is something we call "kabaret" or hors d'oeuvres. It's vegetables, pieces of fish and shrimps and eggs in aspic-jelly. Not my favourite, but it's okay.
It's also very typical with shrimps as you can see in this small photo. I've had some reactions from Americans before when I told them we usually eat shrimps like this: We peel them. Put them on a slice of fine bread and use mayones and lemon on them. Yummie! :)

That looks really good. I'm going to get my coffee for the morning now. It's only 7:30 am in our area.
The only reaction you'll get from this American is that it all looks wonderfully good to eat. Nothing wrong with your shrimp delight! I'd try it and most likely would love it!
Everything looks good enough to eat. To me. I guess some people have other ideas. I like your photo as it makes the food look so good.
I feel sorry for the shrimp. They are so small. Almost like babies. And their eyes stare. Blank.
Not sure I could eat one of those little guys with the big eyes.
Now I got really hungry! ;o)
I'm back from a wonderful dinner at a Persian restaurant. Wow, I love international cuisine!
Thanks for all your comments! Glad to hear you enjoy the photos of our food. :) That's what I love most about visiting other countries: to taste the food as it's usually quite different from what I'm used to here.
Abraham: I'm sorry for the shrimps too, but they sure do taste well. :)
Lothiane,
Thank you for your kind visit to Adelaide DP.
I am very envious of the wonderful healthy food that you Norwegians eat. Western food seems so full of preservatives and chemicals, that our health suffers, generation by generation. I shall make this my desktop photo to prompt me to copy this beautiful spread. Then we can all look as healthy as Norwegians.
Smoked salmon (the Norvegian one is more than excellent), scrambled eggs, vegetables and ham sound perfect !!! --- I', still missing the salmon I had on Hurtigruten years ago !
I wish Norwegians were always as healthy as our celebration food might give you an impression of. Unfortunately, there are too many Mc Donald's and too much frozen pizza on the menue.
lucky you, Fabrizio: I never did travel on the Hurtigruten. I'm sure you must have had a wonderful trip!
I think that Finns eat very similar types of food - at least Finnish-Canadians do!
Piika: Yes, I think we do share a lot of the same food in the Nordic countries. :)
