City roofs

Some roofs for you today. A wild mix of this and that. :-)

By the way, I recommend a blog named The Jeremy & Christine wild in Oslo Tour 2007. They travelled just recentely from America to Norway and has written a lot about their experiences here. It's quite funny and has lots of cool photos.

I have noticed that blogs showing roofs in Norway and in Finland and other places where the snow is deep, that the color red seems to be preferred. Is there any special reason for red roofs -- other than the clay or tile or material the roof is made from is red when finished baking or whatever the process might be.

The second episode of the robins is on the blog today. The mother's head is down the baby's throat.

Looks like most of the roof tops are red. Is there a reason why they are painted this color?

Hello and thanks for all your comments!

I don't know if there are any special reason why the roof tops are often red, other than the tradition of using tile/bricks as material. I don't think there's any other reason than that. If so, I wish someone would tell me. :)

RamblingRound: Yeah, there are quite a few SUV's. There are a lot of people who have quite a bit of money, so they can afford the gas prices. The cars are even worse... they're so expencive to buy here, because of the extra taxes/fees you have to pay to the government. I wish I was among those with enough money to buy whatever car they want, but oh well... :)

I was one week out and almost missed all these lovely photos. Oslo looks so colourful in your pictures. Much better than the photos I've taken...
