Cross country skiing II

Yesterday was a beautiful winter day, and lots of people went out skiing. This is from Bogstad, where the trail is crossing the lake.

Something fun for the kids

This is from the Bogstad Estate. It's situated in a very nice area near the Bogstad lake. Many people go on foot to this place, some together with their kids. This playground is probably meant for the youngest visitors. :)

What on earth are they doing?

I went on a little trip to Bogstad today, to try my new camera. It was a beautiful day, although quite cold. All of a sudden we've got winter again, but the sun does a great job of melting it. :-)

By the Bogstad lake, these men were filming. And what on earth is that thing behind them? It seems to be a katapult, but I have no idea why they had placed it here and what they were filming for.

Snowy stairs

Another winter picture from the Bogstad estate, this one a closer look at the stairs from yesterday's picture.

Bogstad in winter

We've shown you photos of the beautiful Bogstad estate in earlier posts. This is the first winter photo, so I figured you could take another one. ;)

This place is in Oslo, but quite far from the center of town. I've always loved the building and the park outside.

In the evening light

This photo was taken a few weeks back - along with several others, but I'd forgotten all about them. I've chosen a few I'd like to share with you.

This is from Bogstad, in the Sørkedalen valley. It's country side, but still inside the borders of Oslo.

The Gateway

This is from the Bogstad Estate that I showed you earlier. This is the gateway into an atrium with the estate building(s) around it. Very nice. On the right side there's a café and the estate is a museum where you can enter and see the different rooms. I haven't been in there, but I'm sure I'll do that one day.

Bogstad Estate

This is beautiful Bogstad Gård (Estate) in the outskirts of Oslo. It's situated in the Sørkedalen (valley) which is a very nice area. The building is from 1760 and is surrounded by a wonderful park and Bogstadvannet (the Bogstad lake). If you take a look at this post, you'll see photos of the beautiful surroundings.

The Prime Minister Peder Anker, used to live here (very long time ago). Later the buildings and the farm was given to Oslo municipality and is today a museum open to visitors.

Bogstad

This is the Bogstad lake, a beautiful area west in Oslo. Translated it means something like "marshy place lake". The yellow buildings you can barely see to the right, are Bogstad Estate from the 16th Century. It's a beautiful place which I will visit soon to get more close up-photos. They have a cafe and guided tours of the estate. They also have some animals there, and an art exhibition. This is an excellent place to take the family on a Sunday.

To the left (not visible in this photo) there is a nice spot for playing golf. Close by is a large, all year open camping spot; the Bogstad camping.

Here's a close up of the Estate, but I'll return with better photos later.
