A quite new house, but built in the old style with grassy roof. It's quite cosy, I think. :-)

Hi Hilda, Yes it is living grass. :) Turf roofs or green roofs are quite popular. Here's a page about it.
Do you have to mow your roof if you have a grass roof? I've never seen anything like it! Love it!
Sara: I feel that I don't know enough about this, but I'm pretty sure you don't have to mow a grassy roof. My family's cottage in the mountain has a grass roof, and I've never seen anyone doing anything with it... it sort of takes care of itself. :)
In Door County, Wisconsin (where I was born) we often visit a restaurant in the summer that has a beautiful grass roof with 3-4 goats living on it who graze contentedly all season long. It's quite a draw for tourists. I love the look of this sweet little house in your photo.
